Ernie is known as a bass player’s player, having been playing bass for over 40 years. He has earned recognition for the breadth of his musical ability. As if his bass talents aren’t impressive enough, his constant smile is sure to make him new friends wherever he goes.
Widely Travelled Musician
Ernie attended Berklee College Of Music from ‘77 to ’80, after which he played with Berklee colleagues for the next one and a half years in Canada, the US East Coast, Aruba, and Curacao.
In ’82, LA became Ernie’s home base, where he played with Alexander O’Neal, area bands, and recorded with Richard “Dimples” Fields.
In ’93, Ernie moved to Asia, playing in Bangkok, Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Taiwan, as well as some time in Spain.
Recordings & Performances
It was North Carolina’s lucky turn in ’99, when Ernie moved to Raleigh. Since then, he has recorded many CDs and performed with The Troupers, St. Ambrose Jazz Mass Quartet, Stanley Baird, Moment’s Notice, Dealing Stan (Steely Dan tribute ensemble), and Smooth Jazz Artists: Paula Atherton, Gordon James, Philip ‘Doc’ Martin. He also recently recorded and performed with Cindy Bradley.
